Lanny Bergner Artist Talk
Lanny Bergner gives an incredible Artist Talk about his exhibition,
The Luminous Forest,
at InLiquid Gallery
On June 12, 2025, at InLiquid Gallery, Lanny Bergner presented an insightful artist talk to coincide with the opening reception of his exhibition The Luminous Forest (June 6 – 28, 2025). Presented in partnership with Gravers Lane Gallery, the event offered an intimate glimpse into Bergner’s evolving fiber and metal‑mesh practice. The talk ran from 5:00 to 5:45 PM, followed by a reception from 6:00 to 9:00 PM
During the talk, Bergner described his immersive installation as “a walk through nature,” sharing how his lifelong connection with the Pacific Northwest’s forests—centered on daily walks and hikes around Fidalgo Island—informs his creative vision. He explained how he employs industrial metal mesh, wire, monofilament, glass frit, and acrylic pigments—flame-painted, knotted, twisted, and hand-modeled—into biomorphic, ethereal forms. The resulting installation features embossed mesh wall panels, suspended leaf shapes, luminescent hanging pods, and basket-like wall pieces designed to evoke the micro and macrostructures of forest ecosystems
Bergner’s talk also included a discussion of his influences and methods, from botanical structure to cellular biology, undersea life, and cosmology. His handmade interventions in industrial materials underscore a harmonious interplay between natural forms and human intervention. Thank you Lanny for giving everyone such a great peek inside your concepts and process!
