Cheryl Rydmark
Biography
Anchored on the point of discovery, Cheryl Rydmark is compelled to create a poetic sense of the everyday in her jewelry collection. Called a jeweler's jeweler for her uncompromising quality and sensitive handling of the materials, her elegant pieces resonate with an elemental simplicity and sensuality reminiscent of ancient jewelry and ritual objects. Her work is reminiscent of the beautiful bits of nature found in the curvature of a seaweed strand, the bold complexity of dew on a spider’s web and the asymmetric dance of the stars in a constellation. The arrangement of charms in gold and at times, small diamonds, play together in their formation on gold earring hoops and chains of high karat gold and sterling silver. Known for her uncompromising quality and sensitive handling of materials, Rydmark is the jeweler’s jeweler, creating works meant to stir the mind and enrich the soul. Currently celebrating 42 years as a metalsmith, Cheryl maintains a studio on the Mendocino coast, where she practices her craft in between kayaking, painting and gardening.
